Hannah's Friday Favourites

So last week I raved about my new bridesmaids shoes, but unfortunately when they arrived they were far to high  and did not go with the dress-have now surrendered to the nude tones and purchased these simple court shoes from ASOS
Also this week I started watching 'Once upon a time'-although the concept is quite strange to begin with I am now addicted to it!

Have also added a new item to my 'WISH LIST' this beautiful bag by 'Dolce and Gabbana' available at netaporter.
Finally, saw this picture on this great blog I read Uncharted Style.I love wearing pink and thought this outfit was amazing!

Sally's Friday Favourites - Reality and Dreams

Happy Friday Everyone......

So the main focus of this week has been getting this;

To look like this;
and this is where my new best friend enters the picture; how did I ever live without him :)

So after backbreaking work....hopefully permanent curvature of the spine has not set in....I have decided to treat and reward myself with this little number;

And whilst looking for treats...found this shoe designer I am now coveting (Kat Malonie) but unfortunately at over £200 a pair.....her shoes remain dreams for the time beginning.......

but one day ...........Have a good weekend folks..

Buffy's Friday Favourites

Just a few things that have been a part of my week... The Back Keys Album El Camino...absolutely in love with it, I have been re-reading one of my all time favourite books The Secret and have actively been trying you be positive and grateful for everything I have...so far so good :) I was also very fortunate to be given this new skirt and jumper from our vintage stock...thank you Hannah & Sally!!
The necklace represents me trying to wear different jewellery...I am an earring wearer, through and through...so trying to break out of the habit and I think this Tom Binns Fauve hand-painted Swarovski crystal necklace at £805 might just be the thing to convert me...and finally this gorgeous Burberry Lipstick in Devon Sunset for  £22.50...perfect for spring lips!

Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair Nottingham and POM BEARS

Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair last Saturday in Nottingham in the Crown Plaza Hotel - lovely venue, and particularly appreciated the niceness of the facilities and lush soap and hand cream in the toilets - I am so easily pleased :) This was a particularly nice venue and we were afforded a lot of extra space, which was a luxury and meant we could all spread out a little.

 Lots and lots of lovely customers came and the stream of people into the fair seemed to remain pretty constant throughout the day...which was nice as it meant there were no lulls (usually noticeable when everyone seems to disappear and you realize it's lunch time! Also slightly sad in our camp as it's the time we realize that we ate most of our lunch a couple of hours ago!).

 One of the non vintage highlights of our day proved to be the two adorable little girls belonging to the trader opposite....they were so good and both delightful and funny in their antics. They also made us aware for the very first time of an important revelation..........POM BEARS now come in prawn cocktail flavour! Hovering in their vicinity however, did not see us offered a taster!

A successful day and so lovely to meet up with traders from Derby's Vintage Fair last week - it seems to be quite a Vintage Community developing.  Enjoyed meeting new customers who as always....seem so friendly (and this from a southerner lol) and it was interesting this week to see a mix of vintage clothing of differing eras, coupled with jewellery and in particular vintage homewares.

Sally's Friday Favourites - Reflections......

This seems to have been a remarkably short week and it seems only five minutes since I was sat here last Friday doing my Friday Favourites......maybe it's my age....time passing more quickly these days!!!

It has been a reflective week for me this week...again maybe it's my age and thus have decided that this week my Friday Favourites will be a collection of quotes I have found that have made me smile, inspired me and struck a cord.....

A Beautiful Apache Blessing

 ”May the sun bring you energy by day,
  May the moon softly restore you by night,
  May the rain wash away your worries,
  May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
  May you walk gently through the world
    and know its beauty all the days of your life.”
                                     Apache Blessing

Just think this blessing is so beautiful....

So true....

Too many people moan about their lives but do nothing to change it....thinking that by some divine intervention it will change itself......

In appreciation of everyone in my life that makes me smile and brings laughter into my life......thank you..

and finally...just because ......

Hannah's Friday Favourites.

This week I am loving these Limted Edition Topshop dresses...so beautiful and perfect for the summer!
I have finally found the perfect shoes to go with my bridemaids dress, they are from Zara and a snip at only £29.99. Lets just hope when they arrive they do actually go with the dress-fingers crossed!
Finally, I have been listening to DJ Fresh's song 'Hot right now' on constant repeat and catching up on my favourite vampire show 'The Vampire Diaries'.

This week has had me flicking through my Twiggy book and marvelling at just how gorgeous she was...and I love the top picture of her especially. I have made my wish list at River Island...here's a sneak peak at two of the items...casual and relaxed...exactly what I want for my spring wardrobe. Also been having a major catch up with Cougar Town...this programme just makes me smile and I adore Laurie, and thanks to her comes my last items...red lipstick and nail varnish - which she wore with a yellow dress...going to attempt to recreate for tomorrow!!!

Alexander McQueen - Our March Style Icon

Alexander McQueen 17th March 1969 - 11th February, 2010

Alexander McQueen, known to his friends as Lee came from a modest background, growing up in a council house in East London. He was the youngest of six children, his father was a cabbie and his mother taught social science. By the age of sixteen his interest in fashion took hold and he left school and took an apprenticeship at tailors in Saville Row. From tailoring in Saville Row and a variety of experiences he eventually moved to Milan at the age of 21 to work with Romeo Gigli. He completed a Master's Degree in fashion design at the renown Central St Martins College and his MA 1992 collection received media attention and established him as an up and coming young designer.

His reputation as a theatrical designer with cutting edge styles proceeded to make McQueen known and bring him much acclaim on the world stage.

He won the British Designer of the Year Award in 1996 and in 1997 and was then employed by Givenchy whereafter he immediately dismissed the label's founder and subsequently his first collection for Givenchy was almost dismissed. However, his reputation allowed him to survive this although certainly did nothing to dispel his reputation as a petulant bad boy "L'enfant terrible".

Again in 2001 and 2003 he won the Brisitsh Designer of the Year Award and then Gucci purchased a controlling interest in the McQueen line, giving him a greater creative license.

In 2003 he was presented with the International Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and also received a CBE. By 2007 he had opened boutiques in cities all over the world and celebrities were wearing his designs at all the red carpet events.  He was renown for his fabulous tailoring, outrageous style and incredible talent.

Sadly, on the 11th February, 2010 Alexander Lee McQueen was found dead at his Mayfair home, just days after the death of his mother, who he adored. It is clear however, that the name, the designs and the legacy of Alexander McQueen will continue to live on in the world of fashion, couture and design.
