Goodbye and Farewell to January

Well that’s one twelfth of 2012  now over and gone forever......the bleakest and often coldest month of the year. It official has days where some poor souls are more likely to take their own lives – statistically proven - and other days where us mere humans are more prone to depression and even statistics that show which day people are more likely to cheat on each other.... then there is the retail slump, as suffering still from the costs of Christmas festivities and gifts to one another....we are all feeling the financial squeeze of what always appears to feel like the longest month of the year.  Thank goodness then for February!

Yet although January can be a challenge to many of us, it is also the time of beautiful wintry landscapes, of being in the warmth of our homes sharing maybe more time than usual with our loved ones, a time of reflection on the past years events and of new years resolutions, where we inspire to be better and happier than we were in the previous year and of course, it is a time of the January sales...and procuring a whole host of bargains.

Yet, it should always be borne in mind that whilst we are busy wishing this austere month gone........we have also lost another 31 days of our lives.....never to be retrieved....a thought worth holding onto as we delve into the delights of February....

How about a little catch up?

Last time we spoke we were all full of enthusiasm here at All Things Vintage in regards to our video blogs and were about to embark on some vintage hair styles...well here's how it went...not good. I was in charge of actually trying to achieve the looks and Hannah was our hair model...now our family is blessed with having a lot of hair but Hannah is in a league of her own...very thick and very curly...so after attempting to curl it with the rollers and using millions of them I accepted defeat...we need more practice. Now luckily our other sister Tori is coming up next week and her hair is really long and slightly tamer so fingers crossed once again.

On the note of family, we currently have our brother Lewis staying with us...and it just so happens that we bought some vintage American sweatshirts...and hopefully with a little bit of persuasion he will agree to model them for us....pictures to follow later....

Web Domination!

The team here at All Things Vintage are continually looking for new ways to take over the world and to get ourselves a bit more well known, so Hannah came up with the idea of video blogs...now we were a bit apprehensive to have our pictures taken for Asos Marketplace so to be filmed feels rather scary. Now none of us are shy but a video...close up...lets just say there will be no down days of working in our P.J's and no make up on :)

We propose to start small and our idea's are as follows:

Vintage inspired hair styles
Vintage inspired make up
Video diary of our market days
Clothing alterations
How to create vintage outfits

Now the prep work starts today with me attempting to create a vintage inspired hair style on Hannah...pictures will follow if all goes to plan...fingers crossed!

Any thoughts on our idea's and does anyone else do video blogs...if so any tips?

Hannahs' Friday Favourites

This week I watched the burlesque movie online and loved it-so have now borrowed it from the library to feed my obsession to watch it over and over again :) To avoid doing any real work I made the workforce some cupcakes, I took the recipe from my cupcake book and edited it to make my own banana and peanut butter cupcakes which luckily turned out to be very delicious and eaten very quickly. My clothing pictures are items I found on the Topshop sale site and thought I could wear them to look ready for the spring but still be warm enough. The final picture is of two pug puppies-they look so sweet and I have named them Audrey Puggles (The black one) and Winston Puggles (the fawn one).

Sallys' Friday Favourites

Weather starting to be depressing and longing for some summer sun...hence quite like the idea of exploring South Africa and seeing beautiful big cats like this one.......or if I can't have the sun on my skin....I would settle for a wonderful spa retreat for some real pampering. Realistically this isn't going to happen so a bouquet of flowers to brighten my day??? Is this really asking too much? Okay, I know my limits....so a snuggle down to watch my favourite film and a new haircut it is.......

Buffys' Friday Favourites

Can't quite believe it's Friday already...this week has flown by...here's my week at a quick glance.

So let's start off with some Daffodil's...spring cannot some quick enough...I NEED SOME SUN!! Then there's our naughty day of watching Season 1 of Sex and City and one of my favourite quotes from Miranda, quickly followed my new favourite dress...sadly not mine as we are selling it on Asos Marketplace...but I did get to wear it even if it was only for a few minutes. My new dream Michaell Kors watch...only £250...hence the dream, and finally we are all off tonight to watch Jane Eyre!!

What has been your favourite things this week??
