Fashion Icon of February....Mary Quant

Born in 1934 she was one of the designers who is recognised with introducing the mini skirt and hot pants. She wanted fashion to be accessible and affordable to the young and opened her own boutique in 1955.
Some of her most popular designs were sweater dresses with plastic collars, balloon-style dresses, and knickerbockers and stretch stockings in all colours and patterns. Other iconic looks that can be easily credited to the 60's and Mary Quant was knee length plastic lace up boots, tight sweaters and plastic raincoats. Mary held the quintessential 'London Look' and introduced the 'mod' era.
Like a lot of 60's fashion her clothes were fun and daring...exactly what fashion should be about...in my opinion anyway.
